Biography
David Lemon
Born in Boston, I lived my first few years as a toddler in South Weymouth before my family relocated to Smithfield, Virginia. Along with my older siblings, I was raised in this rural town right on the waters of the James River. It was a focus of my parents that we all remained active and aware of the world around us; In addition to enrolling public schools, I received a valuable education from my time in athletic clubs for soccer and swimming, as well as my twelve years in Boy Scouts.
Following my passion for wildlife advocacy, I studied Biology at James Madison University after graduating with honors from high school. Shortly into my time at JMU however, I became involved with film clubs and assisted other students in producing and acting in short films. I fell in love with the art of film, and photography not long after. Still enamored by the nature of our world, I made the difficult decision to change course into studying film production with the intent of working on wildlife documentaries. Receiving a hands-on education with cameras and video systems, I graduated James Madison University with my Bachelor of Science in digital video and cinema studies in May 2025.
The paramount experience of my childhood was my time in Boy Scouts. While developing understandings of societal structures and becoming aware of humanities and injustices, I was also greatly encouraged to care for and cater to the welfare of the environment. I credit this experience in making me who I am today.
Now working as a freelance photographer and videographer with a focus on wildlife and nature, I'm always on the lookout for my next adventure...
